Jetstar 400
« on: September 18, 2013, 10:12:05 AM »
Hi all. I'm not strictly speaking a new member - I have been on the site before - some years ago... I purchased a very original but down at heel Bluebird Marine Jetstar back in 2005/6 and started a restoration. Unfortunately, job changes, house moves and getting married conspired to cause the restoration to stall... I am now better placed to restart the work and rejoined the site in the hope that there might be some new knowledge sources out there. There is precious little information about these rare boats out there but I was in touch with a very interesting and helpful gentleman before who if I remember correctly actually built these boats - Alan Robinson is his name I believe. Alan I think identified my boat as an early circa 1969/70 400 model. I look forward to hearing from anyone who is interested to follow the ongoing restoration of the boat.

I have an old speed boat which I think has a Jetstar hull, I think circa 61 onwards, The hull is constructed with cold formed ply, it has a castoldi 05 jet & a 3.0 V6 Ford engine. The Dashboard is in Italian. The boat 'looks' like a mini Riva :D
I have also been trying to research the history of this classic boat with also not much luck, Bluebird Marine said that it was before their production as it was made of wood not fiberglass.

I cant seem to upload photos on the attachment below at the momoent, the photo file seems to big, I will when i can reduce them

Re the V6 /05 jet on ebay. I have looked at the advert and can see the rear section of the nozzle/steering housing
has been badly damaged and the reverse deflector is missing. Also the V6 marinisation is not made by Castoldi
and the engine appears to be raw water cooled rather than with a heat exchanger.
