Wanted - Albatross Alpine thrust box.
« on: June 22, 2012, 12:00:46 AM »
Does anyone have one of these?

As far as I'm aware, it's an Albatross part, not one bought in from another manufacturer and it mounts on the back of the bell-housing (seen at the top of the photo) and is "supposed" to transfer the thrust from the prop shaft to the bell-housing.

Well I knew that was going to be another piece of unobtanium!  ;)

OK: does anyone have any recommendations for getting alloy castings replicated?

I'd recommend posting on metal working/machining forum.

In France, we have the brilliant www.usinages.com but I don't know about english equivalents.
I've seen hobbyists doing fantastic complex castings, I'm sure you should be able to find someone to cast that part for you.

Good idea. - I'm currently waiting for an estimate for getting one cast and machined but, otherwise, I'll try to find a similar forum here in the UK.

Even with my limited French I can see that that is a very good site. The link should read "usinages.com" - maybe Brian would be so kind as to edit [ur=http to read [url=http in your post which is what's stopping it working.

There is a company in Leicester who will make up casts, but the cost is very expensive. They use computers also to make the forms, bit beyond me. It is called Lestercast on +44 (0)116 276 7284 or e-mail: sales@lestercast.co.uk

You may want to have a look at these videos on Youtube :

Their creator might be able to redirect you to the right forum/people to cast that part.
