Title: Re Jetstar meet
Post by: BN on October 01, 2016, 10:26:56 AM
Hi guys, I said that the last 'get together' was to be the last, BUT the Jetstar guys are as always a great bunch and always turn up in force. I have since been asked to arrange a meet for all of you Jetstar guys and gals.

Since the last meeting, I have now found 5 more Jetstars. Can you imagine what that means, if I can get you ALL to the lake we would potentially have 8 at once  :o (as the advert says) FANTASTIC :D

So the plan is if you are able to make it, I am OK with arranging a meet in May 2017 for Jetstars only.

Please put your ideas for dates on this board only so that the other Jetstar owners can see easily. It also makes it easier than me trolling through e-mails. Not getting any younger and need it to be made easy for me now  :(

So over to you now and lets see if we can break another record  ;D

Hi Brian, always up for this type of thing. May 2017 sounds good for me, my only clash is the first weekend. In theory a bit later in the month could help with the weather, what dated suit the other guys? Geoff

Hi Brian
I have just got my engine rebuilt after 3years!
If I can get the jet unit sorted out in time, I would like to attend

Definitely up for that, later May would be better for me. Gives me more time to complete her.
Where were you thinking?
Cheers. Mike.

I am sure Mark, Geoff and Alan will try to come along.

Yes, definitely up for that !! I've no idea what senior management has in store for me, but I'll ask  ;D..... Mark

Having met 'senior management', I am sure there will be an agreement. The good lady put up with the terrible weather and was one of our chief photographers, so be great to see her again.

It is being arranged. I will try to avoid Bank Holidays as the lake gets crowded then.

Hi Guys, are you still all up for a May meeting 2017. If so, I will set it up with a definite date. I assume that you do not want a BH with everyone potentially on the lake?

only if we have too !! I'm off really early Sunday on hols & I think senior management might be a bit flustered! >:( but if that's the only day that everyone else can do??....

No, if you can gather the clan together when you contact the 'faithful', we can set another date.

I would prefer the weekend before that or early June. No senior management just a diary with too much stuff in it.

Hi Geoff, June tends to be a little hectic (but poss), I am trying to grab calm days for you all. So far we appear OK with May, but which day is the question? BN

Hi Brian, if it's May then 20th or 13th for me. Hopefully that works for the other folks

The more the Merrier ! all I've got to do is break it to senior management that our wedding anniversary is best spend on the boat.... well if nothing else, it's been nice knowing you guys..... ;D

I think the 'management' (if I recall), enjoys being the official photographer. What better for a wedding anniversary ::)

Post by: BN on April 11, 2017, 12:49:23 PM
Hi, I don't see a problem with that request and I can give you contact details for access. Please remember, there is no drinking water and only a Portaloo available for amenities, but there will be guys around during that weekend to socialise with, so you will not be alone. This is not a glamorous location, but very down to earth, that is why it is successful. There are horses on site, so whilst dogs are not restricted, they have to be horse friendly on a lead.

There are restaurants, Waitrose and Lidl very close by and also fuel. If you prefer a hotel, one of the members owns a local one. Sadly the huge Rushden Lakes shopping area (http://www.rushdenlakes.com/) will not be finished in May (I think it opens in July 2017), see guys, I told you September is the best month  :D

I have invited a few others with interesting boats as this is the last meet. BN

Hi BN
Posted this request on the new members section before finding this. Having spent 20 years rallying with six figure map references l can't seem to understand the google maps seven figure references for the location of this meet. Unfortunately my boat is not operational yet and l am trying to gather information on putting it together so hope to do the trip down from Richmond , Yorkshire on the 20th.
Please can you supply a six figure reference and good time to turn up.
Regards Keith.

Here are the co-ordinates:

52.301649, -0.638305

and here is the address and postcode:

Ditchford Lane, Wellingborough NN8 1RL

Hope that helps  :)

Hi Brian,
You mention in a recent post that a member owns a hotel nearby, l am not sure how the day is planned but think it would be a good idea to book into a hotel instead of the drive back to Yorkshire in the evening. Please could you supply contact details so that l can check availability.
Thanks Keith

Hi Keith,

The nearest one is the Travel Lodge on the A45:

A45, Rushden NN10 6AP
travelodge.co.uk
0871 984 6115

The other one is quite expensive, but really great on the A14:

Kettering Pkwy, Kettering NN15 6XT
thwaites.co.uk
01536 416666

The member has no vacancies now it appears, as all the Santa Pod guys stay there for their race weekend.

Regards,

Brian

Hi all,

It appears that we may have 4 Jetstars visiting tomorrow, yet again the biggest meeting of Jetstars again for years. I will be at the lake by 10:00 on Saturday, but the gates will be open earlier of course. If you need to get in earlier, please call Emy on 07961025776 as she is the 'gate keeper', She does not live on site out of hours, so please ensure you call her today in plenty of time. I have sent out an e-mail to all who are attending anyway. See you tomorrow, BN
Title: Re: Re Jetstar meet
Post by: BN on May 21, 2017, 09:48:57 AM
Hi, well the weather was very variable, but who cares a great time was had by all who attended. We still only managed 3 Jetstars, but I am happy with that, because this time there was water skiing behind the boats  ;D ;D brilliant. Tony had represented the East of England, so we are not talking basic skiing here. What it did prove however is that the Jetstar can pull a 'mono' skier happily. Even Geoff pulled a skier and you should have seen his smile, well done :D

I am not sure whether there were more people or family dogs, because I lost count of how many great dogs attended. Being rather biased, my favourite was the Dalmatian, they are full of energy. However, the Spaniel was the wettest  having tried a dip in the lake ;D

If we really tried (and I did say this is the last meet), I think next year there is a possibility of getting 7 Jetstars to the meet. Two guys, still have to restore theirs boats though  ???

I would really like to try to get 7 Jetstars together to one meet. I would contact Gina Campbell if I thought we could pull it off   8)

I took 3 cameras down to the lake and sorry, but I did not take one picture, because I was so engrossed talking about boat restoration.

Thanks you all for attending and in fact I lost count of how many people were there, but it made me happy, I hope you guys were.

Hi Guys, I'm sure you heard the absolutely unforgivable reason for my failure to attend.I thought it was on Sunday... I was fetteling the boat quite merrily on Saturday, ready for the big day & then Geoff phoned to ask where I was ??? All I can do is apologize for my tardy timing & hope that there is another one! again really sorry & hopefully see you all soon... Mark
Title: Re: Re Jetstar meet
Post by: BN on May 22, 2017, 07:26:57 AM
Hi Mark, you were missed, but we did not give the reason why you did not get here  :o  Amnesia or Dyslexia was it   ;D  You will be court martialled at the next meet  ???

On that point, if I can I will try to hold another meet (so you can be court martialled), as they are always good fun, the meets I mean. The Jetstar gang is great and I now know of at least 8 Jetstars  ;D  Two are still under full restoration though. The guys also know of a 9th, but it is unlikely to be able to attend a meet  :(

I wish I had a Jetstar now as I feel out of it  :(

If I can guarantee 8 Jetstars, it would be really worth inviting Gina Campbell  :D

What a great day saturday was. The changing weather didn't dampen our spirits just made it all the better to be on the water.
Fabulous to meet the Foster's and see their boats. A more enthusiastic group you would be hard pushed to meet.
Thanks Buster and Lloyd for indulging my dream of actually pulling a skier. Just over the moon the self restored jet unit coped so well and the engine had the legs to maintain a reasonable speed...despite lacking full throttle! Next time my dream is be to towed behind my boat...Will have throttle problem fixed full gas available.

Let's make another one happen this year

Thanks for organising Brian, it wouldn't of happened without your enthusiasm and hard work.

Hi Geoff, they are a great bunch of people aren't they, but then I am finding the Jetstar owners are all great. You should have smelt the bacon, eggs, sausages, mushrooms and fried bread that came from the camper on Sunday and I could eat any of it and they offered me some, it was torture  ???

I have seen a head cam video from the skier behind your boat and as soon as I get a copy, I will put it on line. It did look great I have to say. We will get you skiing so get a good wetsuit and lets go  ;D

You guys all make the day not me, so thanks to you all and I will try another day at the end of the season, perhaps Mark will remember the day this time  ::). Damn I must get a Jetstar :-[ I feel out of it without one.

Hi Brian,
Thank you for putting on a great day, shame you don't have the ability to control the weather :-)
Thank you also for making my day a memorable one. Great to see your projects and very envious of your fabulous Spitfire.
Good to see Seb and partner travelling all the way from Bristol and hope they enjoyed the day as well.
Think l have now got enough information to be able to complete my Jetstar and would love to bring it down to the next meet.
I hope Seb can get his Jetstar going as well, could make a great day.
Don't forget l have a spare Jetstar and all the bits if you get bored with your other boats :-)
Thanks again for a great day and hope there will be others.
Keith.

Hi Keith, thank you very much, but you guys made the day, with your boats, families, interest and Geoff taking a skier for the first time. In addition, you did well coming from North Yorkshire, so it was a pleasure to show you what I am up to.

The little Spitfire is a little project that I have tried to get back to 'as was', but my baby is the Dowty and boy is that a challenge as you saw. Everything about Dowty is heavy duty.

I really hope you can get your boat together and bring it along to the next Jetstar meet. On that note, don't you think I have enough projects around  :o and you didn't even see my Albatross, so I attach a picture of the Albatross, model Dowty and model Hamilton jet unit, which you will be able to identify now.

Hi Brian
Its a shame I could not be at the Jetstar meet last weekend but hope
to be at the next one if you decide to arrange one.
Meantime I am at the disposal of any Jetstar owners
who might require any assistance with their boats.

Post by: BN on May 28, 2017, 08:59:18 AM
Hi Alan, that is great, thank you. In fact Keith has 2, plus the 3 Musketeers (you, Mark and Geoff), make 5, then the Foster Family who turned up with 2 more making 7. They know of at least 2 more it appears, so it appears we can now locate 9. This is exactly how I found the Almarine boats. I started with mine and now, Stuart runs an annual event in Fowey Cornwall and owners come from all over, UK and Europe.

If only I could get all 9 Jetstars to the lake at once  :D  Cheers Alan
