I plan to be there and I think there are a few from OSB, either way it will be good. The actual races are on the Monday.

I do not wish to claim John Fildes's thunder, but I attended St Olaves today and so did the little armada of Albatrosses coming up the river Waveny to the place they were all made all arranged by John. If that was not enough, the son of Archie attended in the armada and a boat prepared by John and if that was not enough, we all went to the original works that are still standing were the boats were made, fantastic.

People came from everywhere to see the boats, including a gentleman who was the time keeper during the original races. He even contructed a machine out of an old typewriter apparently to keep the time and he still had an Albatross.

It became even better, because a gentleman appeared who lived locally and stated that he had an Albatross and it had not been in the water for the past 30 years, how much better could it get.

John all I can say is well done and I hope the racing goes well tomorrow.

Not been about as much through various reasons but was at oulton broad to see everyone off and then off to do family stuff ....was climbing the walls in the afternoon as i knew I should of got the slipper ready and pushed myself ....at least the enthusiasm seems to be returning !!

What can we say, but John you did well and next year it will be even bigger and better, because we are not letting it go now.
I spoke to many people on Sunday who had Albatrosses and one man, nothing to do with the event had not put his boat in the water for 30 years and may well do so now.

Hi Sham, we will both have to enter in the next years event, because this must get stronger and dont forget, Archie Peace's sons also brought this together with John. I wish I had a clapping smiley, come on Sham put one in the post please  :D I have never seen such pleasure in a post.

Fantastic, please contact John as well, because I am sure he will want to get these on his site. All I can do is give him the credit for what he has achieved with the guys who attended. These pictures are awesome and how I remember the races in the 60's. I am mindblown  :o

It really has ignited the passion again , will have to get some of the niggly problems wrapped up with mine instead of pushing it to the bottom of the garage ,  too many hobbies /toys .. But the albatross is back at the top after  This weekend

The Albatross is back where it should be on top. I tried for years to get things together and JF has beaten me, but I do have this weekend which will be a classic fun weekend and we can be as noisy, smelly and as fast as we like.

This was a seriously good event. 

Get in those garages and get your boats out for 2013!  Don't get any ideas about the trophy though, it looks really good on my piano....

I think a challenge has just been thrown down  :o,  sadly I do not have a piano  :(, but I do have a lovely display cabinet  :D :D :D Just joking, my little Albatross is one of the 100e's, great, reasonably fast, but not in the league of the speeds I have noted from the pictures  ;)

Well done, you and John both deserve the trophy for his organisation and your driving. I want more this weekend at my OSB Get Together, so that we can put pictures up of classics and their owners having fun  ;D

At least you made it to the races, I was happy to be with the guys on Sunday (as I could not make the Monday) to see the huge smiles on their faces. Even my other half had a big smile (thats not normal when boats are about), so it must have been fantastic.

I think we need to make John an honoury knighhood, arise Sir John Fildes  :o 8)
