If you don't know where to start... start somewhere, the rest falls into place.

I has the Ford 1600 GT Mexico Engine through to the Clutch By a Hardy Spicer flexible drive shaft to a Hamilton jet unit. When we bought this it was just the bare hull with the engine laying in the bottom. The engine had been fully refurbed by a Ford mechanic. We managed to locate some engine mountings and get the engine in place,we fitted a clutch so we could run the engine out of the water without burning the jet unit out. Next thing was make up the drive shaft. Then getting the bulkhead pressed up,then find the steering cable and fit, then get a windscreen made up then fitted,Make up the sundeck and get upholstered.Make and fit the seat base and get upholstered.Believe me there was lots of trial and error. There is lots more I could tell you like the trailer over haul new wheels tyres. But it is now a fully sorted craft. She will pull two skiers and always has a full service every year. Her name is "Mikara" I have all receipts for parts purchased. Photos to follow.

Slightly off topic but I’ve got what I think is a very original Jetstar ‘400’ with a Ford 4cyl crossflow engine. I’ve owned it for nearly 20 yrs but have only got as far as a full strip down of the boat to bare hull and and engine rebuild. I was in contact with a gentleman called Alan Robinson who I believe built the boats originally... He was a source of great knowledge. Not sure if he’s still on the forum. I would be interested to find out more about the engine as at the time of the rebuild I was struggling to find out much about the marinisation. It does/did have some ‘watermota’ parts (water pump and manifold...)

We are very pleased to have Alan with us and a very valuable person he is. Also we have a strong Jetstar following on the forum, so you should get all the answers you want. BN
