Hand operated sump oil drain pumps
« on: October 01, 2011, 10:30:23 AM »
Here's a greatly reduced section of the Tilling Stevens / Rootes engineering drawing showing the sump drain pump and pipework for the Alpine Marine engine (the original drawing is full sized). Does anyone recognise this as a standard part?

OK - Is there anything easily available which looks similar? What did Albatross use on their other boats?

Having said that, the pump on both my Dowtys is exactly the same, but I have no idea as to where to get another from. They must have been a standard item and there must be some around, as usual in classics it is finding them  :(
I would emagine it is quite simple to remanufacture them as they are only brass tubes with leather seals inside and instead of working like a bike pump they work the other way and do not melt when hot.
