Hi and welcome to the friendly forum. We are tiny, but the people on the site are mostly enthusiasts, restorers or owners of classics. Someone like yourself is always welcome and interesting to hear from.

Your comment about classics and the rise in your workshop of them, does give encouragement, but then most collectors and restorers are simply passionate about their lovely speed and motorboats here of course.

I had a Fletcher 150 some years ago and I really liked it, wish I still had one. Where are you based, because it is always good to let members know if they want repairs etc.

Enjoy the site and accompanying web at www.oldspeedboats.co.uk

Hi just joined your forum as I have along history of boating. I am in the process this winter of restoring my fathers Fletcher 150 Arrowsport  with a Johnson 115hp. She is a 1975 model which dad bought in 1979 and we had good use for years unfortunately she has been layed up for 20+ years. I am an marine engineer by trade working in a boat yard and have full use of all the facilities to bring her back to life. Have fitted a new floor now preparing for a re-spray back to Rescue Orange a good 70's colour
This looks like a quiet site at the moment but we are seeing more retro boats in the workshop this year

No problems. The hull is quite unique by its layup, so not like normal glass fibre. It is a thick hull, so should be ok, but use good filler for the type of layup of the boat. Ian at Coging knows all about them, he did a lot of work on mine: https://finedon.cylex-uk.co.uk/company/coging-motorsport-27656342.html

Hope that helps. BN

Still available! Free to good home...

I understand that it's likely to be a costly refurbishment job, but I cannot even get a boatbuilder to give me a quote :o :o :o

Hi Tarquin, I am not surprised because the hull layup is very unusual. They were built for the UK market on the Isle of Wight and the company is still going, perhaps they can assist. Take a look at my other site for data on the Dowty and contacts: http://www.oldspeedboats.co.uk/history-of-dowty-2/#:~:text=Dowty%20Turbocraft,by%20Hamilton%20in%20New%20Zealand.

Failing that there is a guy in Northamptonshire who might help, he is Ian of Coging Motor Sport. He replaced the very difficult water intake housing I had to have forged and it is an amazing job: https://finedon.cylex-uk.co.uk/company/coging-motorsport-27656342.html

Hope that helps, BN

You are a star !

Thank you.

Nearly back to the bare boat now.  Just the jet unit and a few bits of brass to remove.

With everything off, it's going to be a complete sand down to see what we've got.

I'll let you know.

Thank you again.

Hi BN

Not interested in the post, but I think you renovated a Turbocraft recently.

I picked one up that needs a new windscreen.   Any chance of a lead on where I can get one made ?

I am having a big sort out and there is a lot.

I have a rather large (no massive) galvanised, bow and winch post to sell.

It was off my Hardy Cruiser I had and dragged around behind my Landy and regretfully had to sell. When I sold the boat, the trailer was not wanted as the rig was too big for the buyer to tow and handle.

Attached below are some pictures to give you an idea. The reach of the snubber (which is adjustable) is from 24 inches to 30 inches.

Too heavy to post, sorry will have to collect. The biggest I have seen on the net are still not as large or strong as this one.

The price is £85.00 please.

Contact via me the message board please on the site or add a comment here.
