Hello - from a new member trying to get a Jetstar 520 running.
« on: October 06, 2008, 10:11:11 PM »
Hi,  I'm a bit of a sucker for old boats (especially ones which don't run!)  I'm currently trying to sort out my Jetstar 520.  It's got a Ford Essex V6 and a Castoldi 05 jet.  I've not had it in the water yet but I'm hoping to any day soon.  I've no idea how old it is - does anyone know how to date these boats?

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who might have some experience of these boats.

Cheers for now.

Welcome to the forum and I am sure that someone soon will help out. I love jetboats, but am not an authority on them unfortunately. Is there a VIN plate on the boat anywhere to give a clue.

Thanks but no sign of a Vin plate.  Did a stealth test yesterday evening in failing light - seemed quick and the steering is a bit crazy - none when you back of the power.  Lots of issues to sort out - hope to test again soon.

If you can email me some photos of the dashboard, engine bay showing
the exhaust manifolds and external view of the 05 jet with/without
boarding ladder/platform I should be able to give you a year of manufacture
and any help you may need with your restoration. alanr

Thanks for the offer alanr.  I'll try and get some pictures tomorrow and either e-mail (where do I find your e-mail address?) or post in the gallery if I can work that out.  Once I've got the pictures I'll sort it.

That is the point about jets, keep the power on otherwise the steering will not work  ;)
