Title: Simmonds
Post by: mog on September 19, 2023, 10:27:19 AM
I have a Simmonds for sale. As a family we used this boat for water-skiing at Cirencester Water Ski Club in the 80s and 90s. Now that both my parents have died we are looking to sell it. My father kept very detailed records so here is a summary.

Built 1961, boat number LW101

Engine - Ford 3 litre V6 1968 (ex Ford Zodiac). Engine number 6G11B. Rebuilt 1979 and 1984, top overhauls in 1988 and 1993.
Original engine was Ford 1600cc replaced around 1973 by the existing 3 litre.
Transmission - Borg Warner "Velvet Drive" (Reversing) model AS1-71CR
Purchased by my father 1st May 1982 and it has been in our family ever since and used for water skiing.
Last used around 2006, since then it has been on a trailer under tarpaulin.
Needs cleaning and painting. The engine should be fine but it has not run since 2006.

I have photos, but I believe I have to ask permission to attach them, so please can I attach photos? Alternatively I can share them on Dropbox with anyone who is interested?

I am open to offers.

Regards
Mog

Hi Mog, No permission required, but because this is a small specialist forum it is funded by me and resting on a friends larger site to save money and give free help to the enthusiasts. If it wasn't for Heath and Marks valuable help it could not exist.

I had a Simmonds and loved it, so if you have some pictures go ahead. The size of the picture is small, so if any difficulty go to Fotosizer and download the free app, it is a great help. For a very small fee which is a one off payment, you get the full App. Best of luck and I hope you sell the boat.

Thank you for your comments, I have now managed to reduce the size of some images on my iPad, and save as .jpg rather than the original .jpeg, what a palaver iPads are! , so here they are. Hopefully they are small enough, they seemed to lose too much resolution if any smaller.

That looks a great project and it is an alloy one not the fibreglass version, brilliant.
